The name "AFURI" comes from Mt. Oyama (commonly known as Mt. Afuri), located at the eastern end of the Tanzawa Mountains in Kanagawa Prefecture. The soup is made using pure water that springs from the foot of Mt. Afuri, hence the name "AFURI."
Mount Afuri has been loved since ancient times as the father mountain of Mount Fuji. Originally known as "Amefuriyama" (rain mountain), it was a sacred mountain where people would pray for bountiful harvests. Its majestic and dignified appearance also fascinates people, and it is said that hundreds of thousands of worshippers visited the mountain every year during the Edo period. We at "AFURI" also want to be a presence that brings happiness to people in the modern-day Edo city of Tokyo.
